Cycling jerseys for spinning

A good cycling jersey for spinning fits close, weighs next to nothing and wicks sweat away from the body so you can stay focused on your training. The rear pockets are useful even on a spinning bike – for your phone, towel or energy gel. Our jerseys are made from technical fabrics and are available in short-sleeve, long-sleeve and windproof styles.

Which cycling jersey is best for spinning? Spinning is high-intensity training that generates large amounts of sweat in a short time. The ideal cycling jersey for spinning is made from technical fabrics with superior moisture-wicking properties, fits close and aerodynamically, and is light enough that you barely notice you're wearing it. Here's what matters.

Fabric is everything The best cycling jerseys are made from polyester with elastane – a combination that delivers technical moisture transport, flexibility and durability. Polyester moves sweat quickly away from the skin and dries fast, while elastane ensures the jersey follows your body's movements without restriction. Avoid cotton – it absorbs sweat and stays damp and heavy, and during spinning that's a real problem.

Fit and cut Cycling jerseys come in race fit (very close-fitting), club fit (close but slightly more relaxed) and enduro/trail fit (looser, primarily for MTB). For spinning we recommend race or club fit, as they sit close and prevent loose fabric from chafing against your arms and body. Bear in mind that cycling jerseys are cut to be worn in the forward riding position – they are slightly longer at the back than a regular t-shirt, and that's exactly as it should be.

Short-sleeve, long-sleeve or windproof? For indoor spinning, short-sleeve is the natural and most popular choice. You don't need windproofing or water resistance. A long-sleeve jersey can be worn, but will typically result in more heat retention. Consider a base layer under a short-sleeve jersey if you prefer extra layers – it actually provides better moisture management than one thick layer.

Are rear pockets useful for spinning? Yes, more so than you might expect. The three rear pockets on a cycling jersey are practical for your phone, towel, energy gels and water bottles, even on a spinning bike. Many cyclists who are used to using their jersey pockets outdoors find them just as useful indoors.

Should I match my jersey and shorts? It's not functionally necessary, but many people prefer a coordinated look. At Ventoux we offer cycling jerseys and shorts in coordinated colours and designs, making it easy to put together a functional and smart spinning outfit at a combined price that's hard to beat.
