Cycling socks
Socks for cycling should keep the feet dry and comfortable. Depending on the season, cycling socks are produced in materials that keep the feet warm (Thermolite, Merino and Wool) or cool (Coolmax, Dryarn etc.). Ventoux cycling socks are available for both the warm and cold seasons.
What Ventoux cycling socks have in common is that they are all very affordable considering that the materials and processing are top notch.
NB: When purchasing several cycling socks, it is always possible to obtain a quantity discount on the price. See multi-piece prices under each individual model.
Cycling socks for all seasons
A good pair of cycling socks is primarily important for comfort on the bike. A cycling sock specially designed for cycling must - regardless of the season - fit into a cycling shoe without annoying friction. And the cycling socks must be soft, breathable and quick-drying.
In the summer or on the indoor bike, in addition to breathability, quick drying and ventilation, cycling socks in textiles that can have a cooling effect are needed so that the feet do not get too hot. Technical materials such as Coolmax or Dryarn are typically used in summer cycling socks in combination with cotton, polyester and spandex to achieve optimal comfort.
In winter, a good pair of cycling socks, unlike in summer, must keep the feet warm. For that purpose, e.g. Thermolite or Merino wool. Always mixed with other materials to achieve the best possible comfort and durability.
Cycling socks for indoor cycling
In a spinning room or on indoor cycling trainers, the feet become extraordinarily hot after a short period of work, often with the result that moisture and sweat quickly penetrate socks and cycling shoes. Here, there is a need for the best ventilated and quick-drying cycling socks in e.g. Coolmax. Cycling socks with a shorter shaft (low cut) are also an obvious choice for indoor cycling or spinning.
Winter cycling socks
Which cycling socks are best for the winter months? Cycling socks for winter use, unlike in summer, must primarily keep the feet warm. A popular technical material in the cold season is Thermolite, which has good thermal insulating properties, i.e. retains heat well, without the stocking being as thick/full as e.g. woolen socks. Thermolite cycling socks are also constructed with channel-sewn air pockets, which promotes air circulation. The light, soft and warm Ventoux Thermolite cycling socks in either black/grey, black/red or black/yellow versions have been one of our most popular winter cycling socks for several years.
Cycling socks with Merino wool are probably the warmest on the market, and therefore particularly suitable for winter cycling. Cycling socks with Merino wool are in particular demand due to Merino wool's very special properties: They are extra warm, free of odors, moisture wicking and skin-friendly (does not scratch). Ventoux cycling socks with Merino wool are available in black or gray as well as a thinner light version.
Cycling socks for winter cycling can advantageously be relatively long. It protects better. In addition, a good winter cycling sock has a stronger knitted bottom that reduces cold exposure from below.
Cycling socks for summer cycling
Which type of cycling socks are best when it's hot? The best cycling socks for cycling in the summer are produced in a material that cools the feet. Coolmax is e.g. developed to have a cooling effect. It is of course also important that summer socks are ventilated and sweat-wicking.
Good cycling socks for warm conditions are also knitted, so the upper part is in a light micro mesh knit, while the shaft of the cycling socks should preferably be firm in rib knit. In addition to cooling your hot cycling feet, your cycling socks must also fit well on the foot, to reduce the risk of friction and blisters on the feet.
Since the cycling socks, especially in the summer season, are a visible piece of clothing, many people also want cycling socks that match the other cycling clothes (or the bike).
The white cycling socks
When it comes to sock color and length of cycling socks, it is almost a religion in certain circles. Some enthusiasts stubbornly claim that "real" cycling socks must be long and white.
In e.g. Tour de France, you will then also be able to quickly spot that virtually all riders are wearing high-stocked and often white cycling socks. However, a greater variation in colors is gradually seen, e.g. matches the cycling clothing. However, the trend of long white cycling socks has only partially caught on in exercise circles, where the variety of colors and shaft lengths is far more varied - fortunately!
Bicycle socks in bamboo
The use of bamboo textiles in cycling socks (and many other types of socks) has grown over recent years. This is due, among other things, to the fact that bamboo cycling socks are softer and skin-friendly than socks made of artificial materials. And then bamboo is also considered to be a more environmentally friendly and sustainable material than especially oil-based textiles.
We especially recommend bamboo cycling socks for cycling in medium warm conditions. During very high temperatures, Coolmax cycling socks are still the best choice.
Cycling socks for men and women?
There is no significant difference between the anatomy of men's and women's feet. Except maybe just the size. For the same reason, cycling socks are typically unisex, although of course there can be differences in preferences for colors and patterns.
Ventoux cycling socks
The range of Ventoux cycling socks covers most needs: Cycling socks for men and women, winter and summer cycling socks. Where the white and black cycling socks for men previously dominated, today the range is far more versatile with many more colours, lengths and textile types on the shelves. As we know that most people have a large consumption of cycling socks, it is always possible to buy 2,3 or 5 pairs of Ventoux cycling socks at advantageous multi-piece prices.
