Leg & arm warmers

Covers for arms and legs (also called loose sleeves and legs) are hard to do without in the cycling wardrobe. The loose garments are flexible in changeable weather and can be placed in the back pocket on the go. Typically made in cozy Roubaix or breathable and stretchy lycra or polyester (for warmer days).

Arm, leg and knee warmers are typically used in the mid-season and on the cool summer days, of which there are some in our latitudes.

Leg warmers

A good pair of leg warmers is an essential part of a cycling wardrobe if you cycle in spring or autumn. When you start your career as an exercise cyclist, it can be difficult to figure out when to switch from long cycling pants to cycling shorts. The seasoned exercise cyclist can do that too, but if you have a few cycling seasons behind you, you have probably also discovered the benefits of a pair of quality leg warmers. Good leg warmers for cycling must be made of a soft and stretchy material. Often you want to e.g. use the fabric Super Roubaix, which has a soft terry backing and a smooth front. Normally, you don't want to use windproof fabric for leg warmers. Windproof fabric is stiffer and not as breathable. If protection from the wind is needed, you should probably keep your winter cycling pants on for a little longer before switching to cycling shorts and leg warmers.

Leg warmers for cycling must also be easy to put on and take off. That is why we prefer that leg warmers are provided with a good quality zip at the ankles. We always use YKK zippers for our leg warmers. The zips on some leg warmers must be able to last a long time, and you must therefore never compromise on the quality of the zip for bicycle legs.

The big advantage of loose clothing, such as leg warmers and arm warmers for cycling, is that they make your cycling wardrobe more flexible in the spring and autumn, and generally at times when there can be relatively large temperature differences on a cycling trip. It is easy to put on leg warmers and arm warmers on the way out on the bike ride, and when the weather is clears up and the sun breaks through the clouds, the loose arms and legs are gone, and in the back pocket, and voila you are ready for summer cycling instead.

It may also be that you have moved into some mountain driving, where it e.g. is super hot in the valley and up the mountain, but when you have to go back down, you can easily get cold. Then it is e.g. put on leg warmers and arm warmers again, to keep warm in the cold wind.

In addition, we think that leg warmers, like all other cycling clothing, should be equipped with good reflectors. Especially because leg warmers are typically used when it gets cooler, in the morning and in the evening, the time when it is dusk or dark, the need to be seen by other road users is particularly pronounced when you wear leg warmers. So, always go for leg warmers with reflectors. The reflectors can be printed on, e.g. in the logo and or the decoration on leg warmers or along the zip on your leg warmers.

It is also important that your leg warmers fit well and solidly around your cycling legs, but of course without tightening and bothering you during your cycling trip. Therefore, your loose legs for cycling are provided with a silicone edge at the top of the leg, which should keep your leg warmers properly in place. It is of course also crucial that your leg warmers are the right size. The most important measurement when it comes to which size leg warmers to choose is the circumference of your thigh. Underneath all of our Ventoux leg warmers you will find a measurement chart which indicates the size of the leg warmers and the corresponding circumference of the thigh.

Arm warmer for cycling

Often, together with your loose legs for cycling, you also want a pair of loose sleeves. Arm warmers for cycling, like leg warmers for cycling, have a number of great advantages. Loose sleeves for cycling are also available in a warm version for cycling in mid-season, spring and autumn. Here you will often use the same material as for the bicycle leg warmers, e.g. Super Roubaix, which is soft and comfortable to wear, while being sweat-wicking. Arm warmers must of course also have reflectors on them, often in the form of a printed reflective logo and decoration. Like bicycle leg warmers, loose bicycle sleeves must be provided with a silicone edge, which holds the arm warmers firmly on the upper arm. Here, too, it is of course important to choose the right size arm warmer.

In addition to the warm arm warmers for cycling in the middle season, arm warmers, or loose sleeves, are also available in a lighter version. Loose sleeves for summer cycling are made of a lighter material, typically a light Lycra fabric. The Lycra fabric must be soft, comfortable and stretchy. Loose sleeves for summer wear can provide a little extra warmth, but must not be too warm on a summer day. Often you also want protection from the sun when you choose the light summer loose sleeves.

Knee warmers for cycling

If leg warmers for cycling get too hot, but you still want to keep your cycling knees warm, e.g. on the outing on his bike ride, a pair of knee warmers can be the ideal piece of clothing. Knee warmers are shorter than leg warmers, they naturally primarily cover the knees. Knee warmers may be a little overlooked, but we want to make a splash for knee warmers on the bike. We think cycling shorts and knee warmers can often be a really good combination. If you use knee warmers, you keep the knee warm, which is the most important thing on your leg, but at the same time you have the option of getting rid of the heat via
