Cycling shoe covers

Shoe covers for cycling shoes are, in our latitudes, a particularly useful item of clothing if you want to avoid cycling with cold and wet feet.

Depending on the type and materials, shoe covers are intended to protect against wind, rain, dirt and cold. Ventoux Heavy Duty neoprene shoe covers are designed for use in the winter season, while Aqua and MaxDry must protect against rain and wind in the mid-season. The latest addition to the trend is "toe" shoe covers for days when regular shoe covers are too much.

Ventoux shoe covers, like most Ventoux products, are characterized by high quality and many features at extremely reasonable prices.

Shoe covers for cycling

Shoe covers are an indispensable part of the cycling wardrobe. All year. It is tiring to say the least if your feet get wet and cold along the way, and a shoe cover can prevent this, among other things.

At ventouxbike.dk you will find a classic selection of quality shoe covers at reasonable prices.

Using shoe covers takes some getting used to. A cycling shoe cover must surround your cycling shoe as closely as possible, and it can be a bit of a hassle to pull the cover over the shoe the first few times. Fortunately, it gets easier with the routine. Ventoux shoe covers are ordinary in size and can withstand being lifted and pulled on.

Tip: It will often be easier to put on the shoe cover BEFORE you put on cycling shoes. Instead of pulling the cover in place, it folds over the shoe. This method requires that your shoe cover can be closed at the bottom with Velcro. You can e.g. see an effective velcro closure in the sole of the Ventoux Aqua Free shoe cover.

Shoe covers for winter

When the cold sets in, we recommend neoprene shoe covers. The neoprene should ideally be 3 mm. thick to be suitably thermally insulating and at the same time flexible. Ventoux Heavy Duty shoe cover is an example of a winter shoe cover in strong neoprene quality. Neoprene is a light material with a content of many small air bubbles that act as an insulator. Neoprene also has extremely good wind and water-repellent properties. The Ventoux Heavy Duty shoe cover is available in black and also in a traffic-safe neon version.

Shoe cover for rain and wind

When there is a prospect of wind, rain and showers, a rain cover for shoes is what can make the difference between a good and a less good bike ride. The most important thing about this type of shoe cover is the ability to keep water out. When you cycle in the rain, this of course applies to the water that comes down from above, but equally to the water that sprays up from the road when you cycle.

The material in rain shoe covers is typically thinner, but on the other hand waterproof. And then the seams are sealed so that no water gets in here.

Remember that a shoe cover - regardless of waterproof materials - never ensures 100% against the penetration of water. There must be a hole at the bottom for the cleats, and the shaft will never end completely close to the leg. Ventoux Aqua Free and Ventoux Max Dry are robust and flexible shoe covers with solid waterproof and windproof properties.

An alternative shoe cover for spring and autumn

If it is too hot for a shoe cover that covers the entire cycling shoe, we can recommend a toe shoe cover. Ventoux neoprene toe shoe cover is a half shoe cover that keeps the toes warm in the middle season. A toe shoe cover is an easy solution when it is not yet warm enough to wear the regular shoe cover, which covers the entire foot. The toe shoe cover is extra easy to put on and take off.

Summary: What is the best shoe cover?

A good shoe cover must be made of a flexible and waterproof material. And then it must be easy to put on the cycling shoes. It is important that the materials used are durable and of a solid quality: Strong (YKK) zip on the back, robust Velcro closure at the bottom and Kevlar reinforcements on the nose. For winter use, neoprene shoe covers of at least 3 mm thickness are recommended, and possibly with inner lining.

In relation to road safety, reflective prints and preferably reflective zippers are a must. The neon-colored shoe cover in motion provides extra good visibility in the dark places.
